Transit Rider PDX: Better Late Than Never

Transit Rider PDX: Better Late Than Never

I believe Trimet was 'shamed' into providing this to OPAL, who gets 100% credit for forcing this issue.
You neglected to mention the slam that Bethel took at OPAL, something I thought was offensive given the fact that the board stonewalled OPAL for years on this.
You also neglected to mention that Trimet, without doing an equity analysis, changed the transfer policy for weekend bus riders from 3 hours to two hours.

The FTA (always in cahoots with TRIMET) let Trimet off on a technicality on this but Trimet had to promise to never make a change like that again, ever!

Trimet has the most expensive bus fare in America right now. By doing away with the zones they effected a large fare increase on riders who travel short distance.
Where's the equity in that?

GoLocalPDX | TriMet’s Per Capita Ridership Declines as Billions are Spent on Light Rail

GoLocalPDX | TriMet’s Per Capita Ridership Declines as Billions are Spent on Light Rail

The 'cost per ride' figures are extremely misleading.

Light rail needs lots and lots of support personnel that are not included in that number.

Controllers, Supervisors, ROW personnel, switch maintainers, signal techs are just a few.

The light rail apologists always leave out the HUGE cost of constructing the light rail in the first place. 'That money alone makes the figures bogus.

Regarding the 'recession'. We have studies the facts on that and it turns out the so called 'great recession' was barely a hiccup to Trimet.

We did our own investigation on this matter, all the figures were provided by Trimet but were not charted.

RANTINGS OF A FORMER TRIMET BUS DRIVER: A Trimet driver writes

RANTINGS OF A FORMER TRIMET BUS DRIVER: A Trimet driver writes

I find it quite ironic that so many Trimet Operators bitch about working for Trimet, yet nobody ever quits.

~~>That's actually wrong, I quit solely because the job became tortuous for me. I would have continued working there had the management not been so fucking horrible. The truth is most people are wage slaves and can't just pick up and leave because its intolerable

Workplace morale heads down: 70% of Americans negative about their jobs, Gallup study shows  - NY Daily News

And lets be honest can we, Trimet is not honest in the training what people will be facing as a bus driver. Transit bus driving is not for everybody that's for sure. Horrible work shifts, no weekends or holidays for years, the worst runs for years. Its a shit job and if it didnt pay good nobody would do it except total losers. There already is too many total losers driving bus but at least most of the Trimet drivers are pretty damn good, and they are all there for one reason...PAY AND BENEFITS, that's it. Only a crazy person would actually aspire to drive a bus

TriMet budget's good news: No fare increases (again), better service, new buses | OregonLive.com

If Mcfarlane thinks its 'vital' to get concessions from his union employees to the level of crummy health insurance that his office workers get then he is gonna have to wait for another arbitrators decision.
There is no way we will agree to his complete annihilation of all his current retirees into this health plan he has devised that is suited to office workers.
Trimet retirees have already suffered a 20+% decrease  in their pensions, his proposal will in reality cause a 50% decrease in current retiree pensions.
Even the Greeks only suffered a 20% hair cut, Mcfarlane wants to kill his retirees.
