TriMet is committed to equity and affordability: Guest opinion | OregonLive.com

TriMet is committed to equity and affordability: Guest opinion | OregonLive.com

I've met with and conversed with Mr Bell and believe he is genuinely trying to do the right thing.

But I do want to say this: You cannot survive as a Trimet executive by challenging anything that the top executives (mcfarlane) are doing or saying. Reading material that is written by any member of the Trimet white collar staff needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

New Portland Light Rail Bridge strings across the Willamette (Photos) | OregonLive.com

Let me start this by saying I am not a 'right wing anti transit tea bagger'.
If you must know I voted green party in the last election. Those people that attempt to paint everyone who has  opposite opinions from themselves as "nuts' are nothing but the 'liberal' (for lack of a better word) example of the same thing they accuse the tea baggers of.  Intolerance and closed mindedness.

No matter how many pretty pictures they produce, not matter how many 'socially relevant' names or contests to find names, this is a pork project costing $1.5 billion to a town that already had transit service ,it adds nothing to the already existing network.

There are so many places that could have used that $1.5 billion to actually improve transit services rather than change them from one mode to the other.

Pork Definition:
"""1: Personally motivated spending of government funds by politicians. Spending the wealth of the people but not in the interests of the people."""

Truthfully ask yourselves, who exactly is this project benefiting?  It's sure not the people who use transit that much is obvious.

Six Reasons the Treasurer should say no to the CRC - BlueOregon

Six Reasons the Treasurer should say no to the CRC - BlueOregon

The overwhelming evidence that this is a bad project comes from a multitude of reliable sources and all sides of the political fence yet it keeps alive.

Why does it stay alive? Because the people that stand to make fortunes off this boondoggle are connected to the highest levels of Oregon government.

It's pure unadulterated cronyism in its most crystalline form.

And since the most powerful people in government want this for their pals it might very well happen no matter what.

It's "our tax dollars at work" aka Crony Capitalism;

TriMet's managers, union need to step it up on rebuilding: Editorial Agenda 2014 | OregonLive.com

TriMet's managers, union need to step it up on rebuilding: Editorial Agenda 2014 | OregonLive.com

""" The agency's unfunded liability of $850-million-plus
to pay for the health benefits of current and future employees. The
debt, joined by the need to find another $274 million to pay pension
liabilities, looms menacingly,
undercutting the promise of a stable future."""

~~~>OK wonderful and the City of Portland has an unfunded liability of over $3 BILLION and I don't see you guys making a big deal over that! Why are there no editorials about that?
"""With cruel irony, the City of
Portland simultaneously polishes its green, mass-transit-happy reputation worldwide."""
~~~>Depending on which periodical you are reading the most credible worldwide articles give Portland a barely average rating.  The reputation you refer to is basically endless public relations campaigns which are bought by some media without question. When your walking around downtown Portland it appears that mass transit is on every street. But the further you go from the center of downtown the less and less transit is available. It's a good system for sure, but its not anywhere near world class standards.

"""But it also stressed that a corrosive
lack of trust between managers and the rank and file undercuts any
chance of achieving the kind of collaboration that will diminish fiscal
risk
ahead."""

~~~>Let me explain as a former employee, Mr Mcfarlane came into power at Trimet with his "new sheriff in town" mentality and has been conducting a war against his employees since the day he arrived.
"""We couldn't have said it better. On the heels of an
audit requested by the 2013 Legislature, neither TriMet nor the ATU can claim
not to know precisely what needs to be done."""
~~~~>How bout this, instead of a management that continually thinks about how it can manufacture raises for itself how bout a management that gives back something. All I see from this management is self serving behavior at the expense of the employees and the riders.
